It's Not About Who You Appear To Be To Others But Who You Really Are.

Many of times we become blinded by our persona because it is something we are so use to putting on, like our clothes and makeup each morning, or like our bonnet every night because we know we can not afford to have our hair looking crazy for the next day. We get so comfortable with the walls that we put up to prevent us from getting hurt or exposed to the life we really live, that we forget who we really are until we run into those same problems that seem to always pop up every once in a while.

How can I get over this? I'm afraid to be vulnerable because I don't want to come off as being weak but I'm tired of putting on my "Superwoman Cape" to save the world or myself every time someone drops the ball.

Sometimes you have to question your intentions in a situation. Why am I doing this? Who am I trying to please? Who will this benefit by me doing this? Would I do this normally?

It's time to get to the root of who you are and what your weaknesses and insecurities are. I know we hate to discuss insecurities because it's something we feel like we don't have, but the truth is we all have them and the sooner you figure them out the closer you will be to discovering your real issue.

We all desire to have successful relationships, rather it be a successful partnership, or successful friendships, or successful business partner but the truth is these things are out of our reach if you are not happy with yourself. If you are not building yourself up and strengthening your foundation you will never be secure enough to build these relationships successfully.

Let's take a look at it from a biblical point of view: Matt 22: 36-40 says:

Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law? Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. and the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

So what does it all mean? It means that you can only love your neighbor as much as you love yourself. Wow. Ok so how do I learn to love myself more? By trusting God to be the Lord over your life. By not always trying to be in control of situations. By not missing out on great opportunities and people because you are over analyzing them and situations.

When you learn to trust God and put HIm first in your life then you will take HIm at His word when He says in Isaiah 41:10

so do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

The more you trust God the more He begins to show you who you really are. Not who you pretend to be. He builds confidence in your walk and boldness in your circles of relationships.

Let's break the cycle of showing people who we want to be or who we have the potential to be and put God first so He can introduce to the world who we really are when we let go and trust God.
